Fashion For Life: Evie's Closet and The Black Canary

If you ask me what my top 5 designers on SL are, I can already tell you that these two will be on the list. Apart from that, it's another of my super lazy days, and I'm not inspired with nice words... I guess it doesn't really matter, the pictures talk for themselves, right?

If anyone fits the "Beyond Black and White" theme of this year's FFL, it has to be Morrigan Denimore, the gentleman behind The Black Canary. I'm happy to show you 2 of his RFL donation items, that you'll find on the Mapplethorpe sim.

On Rose : Eternal Grace from The Black Canary, and Tessa hair from Magika
On Jake : Veil of Deceit from The Black Canary, hair from NSD and shoes from Duh!

In a completely different style, much more colorful but just as gorgeous, comes Evie's Closet. This year, Evie has put up 4 items for RFL, and of course they are all beautiful. They can be found on the Arbus sim. The fourth one is a very pretty flower wreath, not shown here.

Amarie's Bower (exclusive FFL color)

Milli (coconut ice)

Coppelia is one of her lastest designs, and come here in an exclusive yummy color, for 450l$ only (regular price 600l$) and all the proceeds got to the American Cancer Society. Hair is Ploom's Koneko.

I believe I can fly...

Greetings! My favorite OOC (out of character, means NOT medieval as far as I am concerned) designer, THE gentleman of SL, Morrigan Denimore (yes, I DO have a major crush on him, so what?) just released a new delight, that I intend to get as soon as my not so gentlemanly banker lets me buy linden $... So I am showing you the promo poster, which is quite unusual I know (but The Black Canary's promo posters are very pretty anyway...)

Aaaaaaand.... I was mentioning a contest in my previous post... Well here it is:

"My dear lolitas, aristocrats, and all those in between, the first ever lolita themed magazine is holding a cover page contest for the release of our first issue which is set to be released in the month of August. The theme of the first issue is something that is widely known to the lolita culture (and even those who are not): Alice in Wonderland. With this in mind, please post us your best Alice-themed image, and we may very well choose it to be on our cover page.

Now, here are the rules:

1) You are permitted to Photoshop your entry (in fact you really should; if you do not, that's quite alright, we may still choose it nonetheless so long as we have permission to touch it up for the cover).

2) You may only post one image, and it must be high resolution; those who post more than one will not be qualified.

3) Your picture must be tasteful, befitting of a proper lolita themed magazine; we do not wish to see your naughty bits.

4) Enjoy! The deadline to submit is july 25th; after this a winner will be decided and contacted.

The winner of this contest will receive a mini-feature in our magazine as well as have their picture on the front cover. In addition, they will receive store credit to The Black Canary, redeemable at any time for any one item of their choosing.

I am interested to see your lovely photos.

In case you were wondering, of course I am entering... *grins* and so should you!

Freshly out for a delicious summer look

I do love Blue Blood .. I think I mentionned it in the past but I really do. So model those dresses is each time for me a delight. Unravel dresses is the latest release, to get in 4 colours, each of them fresh and summerish as much as you can wish it !
For those who got to assist the great fashion show by Blue Blood and The Black Canary, this is the dress Ghanima was wearing.. I wish my laptop and connection weren't that crappy and I could have published pictures of the show itself but let me just tell you the set was incredible.
"Life after Death" was the theme, and each model was presenting their outfits in a little boat, slowly moving upon the Styx .. (well not sure if it was meant to represent the Styx, but the theme in itself and the set were so gorgeous it made me think of this).
So a big standing ovation to all designers involved in this, to the organisers and the creators of the place!
And about the Unravel gowns, well why didn't you get them yet ? Plus if you're a group member, you get a special discount. Yes.. Life is good!

Freebie hunter and anti-hunt?

First of all, I'd like to point out that I speak for myself only, not having told my fellow bloggers about my intention to post this. They may or may not agree with me, this is up to them. As you may have noticed, there are tons of hunts all around the grid at the moment, and most of them provide high quality freebies. For you and me consumers, it seems like a dream, having all these free things in our inventory. But there is a problem. Have you noticed the number of designers who have closed their shops in the past few weeks? You all know the world economy is going through a major crisis in RL. Well, SL hasn't been spared, and we don't always know it, but lots of designers on the grid have SL as their main source of income.
And what happens if they can't provide for their family anymore, or just don't make enough money to keep their shop running? They close their shop. You may not think it matters, as a new shop will probably open 2 minutes later at the same place, but believe me, it does.
It does for YOU, because these designers are the ones who provide the freebies. And if they go bankrupt, there won't be any freebie anymore.

So please, please, support our designers on SL. Whenever you go hunting, if the lag allows you, please take a few minutes to check the store you're in, and don't hesitate to sometimes buy a full priced item.

And for all of you customers and designers who read this post, here is an idea that came up and was brought to me by my friend Morrigan Denimore, the sweet and talented designer of the Black Canary. Please go have a look here for more info about this 10l$ hunt. And for those of you who are to lazy to read it all (I can't really blame you, I'm one of the worst lazyasses I've ever met), here's a little quote from the Vendor Support month blog :

"There was a designer, with an idea of making a 10L hunt. A hunt, that is not quite your usual freebie hunt with hundreds of stores, hours spent - and some wasted, just to be annoyed, lagged, and end up with a bloated inventory of things you might have not wanted to get in the first place, just to get to the end of the line.
[...]
We as designers wish to serve the consumer and more importantly, continue to serve. We enjoy the support and literally, some of us cannot live without it. Many of us use this platform as our singular source of income. Some of us have children. It's not a game when you deal with real obligations such as that. Some people work tirelessly on creating good, quality content just for everyone to enjoy. We don't ask for much in return."

Thank you all for reading this, and I hope you will have fun finding amazing stuff at the 10l$ hunt in June... I'll tell you more about it as I get more info.

/me loves Morrigan

I know, I know, it's not a freebie, and not a dollarbie either, but seriously, with all the lindens you've been saving these past few weeks thanks to Look What the Cat Brought, I am sure you can afford the 300l$ (only) worth of cuteness, gorgeousness and fashion love that Morrigan Denimore, our beloved Black Canary, has just released...
*blows a kiss at Morrigan*
